Lovely storytelling, brilliant characters. Fun and exciting. I read to my cousins while visited Cornwall. They even started looking for magical creatures and asking for more books in the series.

BOOK 1: THE RESCUE OF THE DWEEBLE STONE

An enjoyable and imaginative read.

Mixing the magical world of Knockers and Pixies with the factual – I loved the mention of ‘half-eaten pasties with blackberries at one end and meat and potato at the other’ which is of course how Cornish miners traditionally ate their pasties.

A fun little story (the first of what I believe is five adventures) with characters with wonderful names such as (my favourite) Maggie Farrenworth Fopp, ‘owner of the finest Pixie Bed and Breakfast’ no less and bold ink illustrations that I really liked. It’s ideal for young readers.

Great bedtime story to lead you into Cornwall.

Love the illustrations. Now my cousin wants to go to Cornwall to hunt for Knockers and Pixies.

Looking forward to finding out what Austin does next!

This is a lovely story that brings the world of tin mining in Cornwall alive for children . Split into easily digestible chapters I would recommend this book . For those intending to visit Cornwall this would be a great way to introduce some history of Cornwall to your children before they actually visit and see some of the many mining ruins across the county.
